There are sixteen advantages in the Qur’an that were not given to any person or prophet in any era except the Lord Jesus Christ. These characteristics are:
- Jesus Christ alone was born of a virgin, distinct from all human beings and all prophets without exception. Maryam said to the angel: “How can I have a boy when no human being has touched me and I am not a transgressor?” He said, “Thus your Lord said, ‘It is easy for me, and let us make him a sign for the people and a mercy from Us.’ And it was a matter decreed.” (Surat Maryam 20-21).
- Jesus Christ alone was distinguished from all human beings by being the Word of God, that is, the true expression of God’s essence and the eternity of His being: “The Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, is only the Messenger of God and His Word…” (Surat An-Nisa 171 and Al Imran 45).
- It was said about Jesus alone that he was an emanation of the Spirit of God, and therefore he did not need sexual reproductive birth like the rest of the people: “The Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, was only the Messenger of God, and His word which He delivered to Mary, and a spirit from Him” (An-Nisa’ 171).
- Jesus Christ alone, excluding all human beings, spoke in the cradle according to the Qur’an (Surat Maryam 23-33). The Qur’an tells us that Christ did not need anyone to teach him anything, not even words, and the Holy Bible says in this regard: “Whoever has measured the Spirit of the Lord and his counsellor, he will teach him. Who… has taught him in the way of truth and taught him knowledge and made known to him the way of understanding” (Isaiah 40:13 and 14). Naturally, no human being can know who emanated from the Spirit of God, since He knows everything.
- Jesus Christ alone was distinguished from all the prophets by his infallibility and unique perfection, as all the prophets sinned and their sins were mentioned in the Qur’an, and Christ was the only exception, as he was “prestigious in this world and the hereafter” (Al Imran 45).
- The Arab Prophet Muhammad also testified to the perfection and infallibility of Christ, testifying that Christ alone, distinct from all human beings, was not able to be touched by evil at his birth. He said: “Every son of Adam is stabbed by Satan in the side when he is born, except for Jesus, son of Mary. He went to stab him and stabbed the veil.”
- Jesus Christ alone was distinguished from all others as the Creator: “Indeed, I create for you out of clay the form of a bird, then I breathe into it and it becomes a bird” (Al Imran 49).
- Jesus alone was unique in knowing people’s secrets, and thus no one compares to him: “And I inform you of what you eat and what you store in your homes. Indeed, in that is a sign for you if you are believers” (Al Imran 49).
- Jesus Christ alone was able to perform miracles and miracles that no one else could perform: “And He healed the blind and the lepers…” (Al Imran 49).
- Jesus Christ alone was able to raise the dead by command from His blessed mouth: “And I bring the dead to life…” (Al Imran 49 and Al-Ma’idah 110).
- Jesus alone has the title of prophetic Messiah: “The Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, is only the Messenger of God and His Word” (An-Nisa’ 171). The Torah defined the person of the Awaited Messiah by saying: “Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will raise up to David a righteous branch, and a king will reign and prosper and execute justice and righteousness in the land… and this is his name by which they will call him: The Lord Our Righteousness” (Jeremiah 23:5-6).
- Jesus Christ alone exchanges the responsibility of authority with God: “And I was a witness against them as long as I was among them, but when You caused me to die, You were the watcher” (Al-Maeda 120).
- Jesus Christ alone became a sign for people and a mercy from God (Mary 20) for human beings who fell under the burdens of sin and its burdens, so God’s justice and holiness condemned them to eternal destruction. Therefore, Christ came as the only Savior who alone can offer eternal salvation to people and mercy from God.
- Jesus alone was able to rise from the dead, while all the prophets and leaders were still in their graves after their death: “Peace be upon me the day I was born, and the day I die, and the day I am resurrected alive” (Maryam 33).
- Only Jesus Christ can give his followers a high status and assurance for the Day of Resurrection: “And you will place those who follow you above those who disbelieve until the Day of Resurrection” (Al Imran 55).
- Jesus Christ alone will be the judge who comes into the world to judge the living and the dead. The Prophet of Islam confirmed this fact when he said: “The Hour will not come until the Son of Mary sends down a just judgment (i.e., a just judge for the living and the dead).”
